HOW TO GET HERE

Below are several reliable ways to reach Arctic Resort Lofoten, depending on where you’re coming from and how you prefer to travel.

  • Leknes (LKN) and Svolvær (SVJ) are the closest airports in Lofoten. You can fly there via Bodø, typically with Widerøe.

Harstad/Narvik Airport, Evenes (EVE) is just outside Lofoten. From Evenes, you can rent a car or take a bus (Route 300) to reach Lofoten.

  • From Bodø, there is a car ferry to Moskenes which is operational year-round and is a common route for those bringing a vehicle.

In summer, there is also a speedboat (passenger only) between Bodø and Svolvær. Note: as of early 2025, the winter route for the speedboat has been suspended.

  • The European Route E10 connects Lofoten with the mainland via Lofast, allowing you to drive in without needing any ferry along that part.

If coming from Tromsø, you go via the E8 south, join E6, and finally onto the E10 into Lofoten.

  • From Evenes Airport: Bus route 300 runs to both Svolvær and Leknes. There are typically two departures a day (morning and afternoon).

There are bus connections from Narvik via route 300 into Lofoten.

  • Ferry schedules and speedboat routes change with seasons. In winter, some summer-only routes are suspended.

Public transport in Lofoten is less frequent outside peak season, and some destinations require transfers.

    • If driving, ensure your vehicle is suitable for changing weather conditions. Roads E10/Lofast are maintained, but conditions can vary.

FAQs

Do I need to book accommodation in advance?

Yes - especially in high season (June–August). If you have specific dates or cabin types in mind, pre-booking ensures you get what you want.

How do I get to Arctic Resort Lofoten?

There are several ways: by plane (to Leknes, Svolvær, or Evenes), by ferry (for example Bodø–Moskenes), or by car via the E10 through Lofast. If you bring a car, plan for road and weather conditions, especially in winter.

Is a car necessary during my stay?

Not strictly necessary, but highly recommended. Local buses cover main roads, but if you want flexibility for exploring beaches, hiking, or smaller villages, a car is much more convenient.

What are ferry and bus schedules / where do I find them?

You can check ferry and bus timetables at Reis Nordland (buses/ferries) and at Torghatten Nord for ferry crossings.

Will I have mobile/internet reception during my stay?

Reception is generally good in main villages and along major roads. But in more remote places (in the mountains, fjord arms, etc.), signal might be weaker or intermittent.

What should I pack / how should I dress?

Be prepared for rapidly changing weather. Layers, waterproof outerwear, good hiking shoes/boots, warm clothing, maybe a hat and gloves even in summer.

Is the resort accessible in winter?

Yes, but with caveats. Winter roads can be icy or snow-covered. Some services / restaurants may have reduced hours. If arriving by ferry or plane, check for weather-related delays.

What about parking and EV charging?

Parking is free and available for all guests. We also offer on-site EV charging - no need to drive elsewhere to recharge.

What safety measures / emergency contacts should I know?

We recommend saving these Norwegian emergency numbers
Police: 112
Fire department: 110
Medical emergency (ambulance): 113.

Also, always check the weather forecast before heading out - conditions can change quickly in Lofoten. Some hikes may appear easy but can become dangerous in fog, wind, or icy conditions. If you’re unsure, ask us for tips or stick to marked trails. Your safety is our priority.

When is the best time to visit for northern lights / midnight sun?

Midnight Sun can be experienced in summer, especially June to mid-July.

Northern Lights are best visible from late autumn through winter, on clear, dark nights (September–April), away from strong artificial light.
